Whole Lotta Midsommar 2011
Juhannuksena en nähnyt yhtäkään hyttystä, huussia tahi telttaa. Olen kolmenkymmenen vuoden tutkimusten jälkeen päätynyt siihen tulokseen, että kyllä juhannuksenviettopaikkana ykkönen on Tukholma! Ja erityisesti Whole Lotta Midsommar-festit jossa olin viime kesänäkin. Garagenränkytyksen lisäksi käytiin katsomassa Voodoo-näyttely Etnografisessa museossa. Näyttely on auki elokuun loppupuolelle asti, suosittelen. Oli paljon pääkalloja ja paljetteja!
I used to think that midsommar was just one of those boring old traditions that have been turned into a lame excuse to get drunk. But last summer changed the whole thing, when we went to the Whole Lotta Midsommar-festival in Stockholm. Now I think midsommar is a great tradition to get drunk by. There were loads of good bands this year: Swedish ramo-punk-pop Poppets, bluesy garage duo Capputtini i'Lignu, angry Göteborgian synth punk Black Bug, Italian country girls Corpus Christi, French power pop Protokids.
But my favourite gigs were definetely Yussuf Jerusalem and Davila 666. I've seen both bands before, but I think these gigs were the most amazing ones I've seen so far. The kind of gigs that you forget for a while that you're tired, hungry, way past thirty and one foot in the grave.

Laitettiin uusia biisejä Splitsien Bandcampiin ja Myspaceen. Ja kohta meillä on keikkakin! Se on 9.7. Lepiksessä, ja siellä on meidän lisäksi Jyrki Nissinen, Sähkö-isku ja Death Laser.

Oltiin The Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret'n kanssa esiintymässä Las Vegasissa Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekendissä. Sitten jäin eläkkeelle bittyilystä. Mutta ei hätää, ryhmä säilyy ennallaan sillä Kitty Litter ja Brion Bonaventura ovat liittyneet tuohon ihastuttavaan joukkioon!
I had a fun trip to Las Vegas with The Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret girls. But the best part of Vegas was maybe the Elvis wedding of Ulrika & Eddi! Elvis, dressed in a black jumpsuit, walked the bride to the altar. After the ceremony was over Elvis talked about death metal and played some Metallica song with his guitar.
After Vegas I retired from my show girl career and headed for a holiday road trip to Texas and Louisiana. I'll write about that later!
